The McCracken County Road Department has many duties. They consist of paving and maintaining roadways which include:

1. Repairing and maintaining shoulders of the road
2. Mowing the road Right of Ways (ROW)
3. Cutting trees that are on the ROW which may be a danger to the public
4. Trimming limbs on and over ROW
5. Cleaning and maintaining curbs and gutters
6. Snow and ice removal using rock salt and/or sand for traction
7. Tree removal off the roads in the event of a storm
8. Animal carcass pickup off the road or ROW
9. Patching potholes
10. Signs - Maintaining road signs, Such as road names, stop signs, speed limit signs, etc
